I'm a Certified Therapeutic Play Practitioner (Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy, 2023) based in Canterbury, Kent, currently completing my Diploma in Play Therapy with APAC. I have completed over 250 hours of clinical practice and at present I am practising in two mainstream primary schools in Whitstable.
I work alongside this as a Nanny, caring for a toddler and two infant school-aged children.
I have previous experience working as a Children and Young People's Mentor at a domestic abuse charity, a Play Support Worker for the Special Needs Advisory and Activities Project (SNAAP), and a Wellbeing Mentor and 1:1 Learning Support Assistant at a mainstream junior school.
I am on the Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. The PSA aims to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. Being on this accredited register demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety, and delivering a better service.
Play Therapy is a mode of therapy where children can choose to express themselves through play and creativity, using a range of mediums including sand, art, puppets, music, clay, and toys.
It can be difficult for children to process and put into words their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Play Therapy gives children a safe space and relationship within which to explore their inner world in a way that is more accessible and natural to them.
Play Therapy is an appropriate approach for children experiencing a range of difficulties and is an excellent provision to incorporate into schools as part of a strategy to support children and young people's mental health.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss the needs of your setting or children and my availability. I look forward to hearing from you!
